Juventus have signed hotly tipped 16-year-old goalkeeper Laurentiu Branescu from Romanian side CSM Ramnicu Valcea, beating Manchester United and Aston Villa in the process.
Evenimentul Zilei newspaper reports Juventus as having paid €400,000 (£338,000) for the youngster following a month of negotiations.
United and Aston Villa came close to the Romanian, who is said to have met Sir Alex Ferguson and David Beckham.
But it was ultimately Juve who got their man after presenting the best offer. As well as the fee, the Italians will pay CSM a series of bonuses once Branescu makes his Serie A debut.
Experts describe the goalkeeper as being the new Buffon after he made his debut at just 15 in 2009 when CSM beat Aroesul Turda 5-1.
